STUDY ABROAD - REALITY OR FANTASY?
Why study abroad?
Exploring yourself.
Discovering new cultures.
Making your profile stand out!
Experiencing new techniques of teaching and learning.
Being self- reliant.
Developing a global mind-set.
Finding ! Faith ! Funding
These are the three F's of studying in another country as a Bangladeshi student. A large number of students in Bangladesh aspire to study abroad. But barriers stand in their way at every turn.
The first challenge they face is locating relevant information, also known as research. Most people prefer shortcuts to success. There are no shortcuts in the study life of a student. Especially if you intend to study in a completely new environment, with a new curriculum, and with people from various cultures. The most important thing that a student can do to gain proper knowledge about their dream institution is to conduct research.
- What subject interests you the most?
- Which college do you prefer?
- How much financial assistance can you manage?
These inquiries are intimately connected. First and foremost, you must be aware of your subject options. Second, selecting the best college for yourself is crucial. Students can conduct this research based on a variety of criteria such as ranking, scholarships, diversity, and facilities. You can look for the best college for your academic interests, or you can look for colleges that offer a large number of scholarships to international students. Some students prefer to receive their education from the best-ranked institution. As a result, any criteria can be used to create your best college list. Third, you must be aware of the financial resources available to you for furthering your education. Look for the fees and scholarships section of the colleges on your list. Clear up any confusion by asking them about anything you need to know about college.
Along with faith in God, it is essential to have faith in yourself. Being confident in your abilities provides you with strength, confidence, and optimism. A student's goals must be realistic. Otherwise, progress is impossible. When a student has enough faith, he can easily explore himself in any situation. Studying abroad is difficult but not impossible. To achieve the goal, self-confidence should be one of the main mottos. This may have been a dream before, but you must make it a reality. A student must remember the lines,
“Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall overcome someday!”
Funding is one of the challenges that students face in making their dreams a reality. The cost of English proficiency tests appears to be prohibitively expensive for Bengali medium middle-class family students. The application fee, enrollment fee, and other expenses can also be a barrier. To determine the total cost, it is necessary to conduct research on college financial aid. Many college websites provide a net calculator for calculating your net future expenses. Nowadays, numerous foreign universities offer generous scholarships. There are also need-blind and need-aware colleges for international students' benefit. Governments in various countries provide fully funded scholarships to international students. The circulars for government scholarships can be found in the Secondary and Higher Education Division, Education Ministry website.
Studying abroad is no longer a pipe dream for Bangladeshi students. Every step of this journey is significant. Do your own research, be consistent, and work your heart out! Be enthusiastic about who you are and what you want to accomplish. Then go ahead and do it!
